What's Good about this Friday?
Do any of you really know why today is called Good Friday? This is something I have wondered about before. This year, however, I decided to do a little research to find out more. I published a short article on Helium, and you can read everything I wrote about Good Friday here.
So, what is "Good" about Good Friday - the day that Jesus was brutally tortured and crucified? It was the gift that he gave us that made the day good.

Jesus, himself explained that his death would pay for all the sins of mankind, once and for all. No further sacrifices would ever be required. Anyone wishing to be forgiven of his/her sins only has to accept and believe that Jesus Christ was and is indeed the Son of God.
Christians, who have accepted Christ as their savior recognize this day as a turning point when God accepted the good gift and sacrifice of Jesus. Regardless of what you believe about Jesus Christ, his intention to unselfishly give his life so that everyone has the opportunity to be forgiven for their sins is a huge gift!
I personally accept Jesus' fine gift and am extremely thankful for it - I have everything to gain and nothing to lose!

Thanks for sharing that Cindy! The stories of our faith that we tell over and over each year strengthen and sustain us. How astonishing that now we do electronically what ancient people did around their campfires!

Thanks Anne! 'Funny you should say that! One of the theories on the origin of the name Cindy, is that it comes from the word cinder. It is said that variations of the word cinder were used to name the person who carried hot ash from one campfire to the next. It was that persons job to keep the fires going. Hey; maybe I am just living up to my name - ?
